The Battery was a campaign newspaper devoted to the support of Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore for president and vice president, respectively, during the presidential campaign of 1848. Published by G. S. Gideon, The Battery issued its first number on July 6, 1848. Numbers continued to be published until November 16, when the publishers issued an extra edition, after which the paper went on hiatus. The twentieth and last issue was published on January 25, 1849.
