The Illinois General Assembly placed the Brown County Circuit Court in the Fifth Judicial Circuit from Brown County's creation in 1839. Abraham Lincoln and his partners served as attorney for three cases on appeal from the Brown County Circuit Court to the Illinois Supreme Court.
