Evening News and Intelligencer

City: Saint Louis

State: Missouri

The Evening News and Intelligencer was the successor to the New Era, a Whig newspaper founded in 1840 by Charles G. Ramsey and Nathaniel Paschall. Pashcall served as editor until 1844. In 1849, Ramsey sold part interest in the paper to Thomas Yeatman and Joseph B. Crockett. Yeatman and Crockett changed the name to the Intelligencer. In 1857, the Intelligencer failed, and merged with the Evening News to become the Evening News and Intelligencer.
