The Illinois Sentinel was a newspaper in Jacksonville, Illinois. James R. Bailey established the paper in January 1855. Bailey continued to edit and publish the Sentinel until failing eyesight forced him to sell it to Fanning, Paradice & Company in January 1872. The Sentinel was published weekly and supported the Whig Party and later the Democratic Party.
