Vincennes Gazette

City: Vincennes

Robert Y. Caddington founded the Vincennes Gazette in 1830. It became an official organ of the Whig Party and a journalistic success. In 1855, Caddington sold the paper to Harvey, Mason and Company. The firm added a daily edition and published the paper with continued success until late-May 1859, when it sold the paper to Dr. H. M. Smith and M. P. Gee. The paper changed hands multiple times between 1861 and October 1865, and ceased publication soon after.
