Alexander, Ebenezer (of Coles County, IL)

Ebenezer Alexander was a teacher and farmer. In 1817 he married Dorcas Carter, with whom he had at least six children. They lived in Kentucky until at least 1825, then Tennessee before relocating to Coles County, Illinois in 1828, where Alexander taught at a small school in the settlement at Wabash Point for a time. Between 1835 and 1836, he purchased more than 200 acres of public land in Coles and Shelby counties. By 1850, he was farming in Coles County and owned $2,000 in real estate.
