Flourished: 1835-1846 Sangamon County, Illinois

Barbre married Nancy Wilkinson in Indiana in 1819. Barbre was a licensed Baptist minister, and he farmed as well as performed missionary work. Nancy died in 1828, whereupon Eli moved to Edgar County, Illinois. There, he married Anna Wilson in 1829, and in 1835, they moved to western Sangamon County. From 1835 to his death in 1846, Barbre focused his attention on preaching in Salisbury, Clinton, Mechanicsburg, Loami, and finally Waverly.
