He married Elizabeth Morris in Tazewell County in 1845. Casey was a successful grain merchant in Pekin, likely shipping grain to markets downriver. In 1860, he owned $10,000 worth of real estate. Religiously, Casey was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church.
