Colby, Jonathan

As a young man, Colby received an education, and he worked as a clerk for some time. In 1834, he emigrated to Illinois, where he settled near Petersburg and began farming. In 1837, he married Lydia Ingalls. They lived on the same farm the rest of their lives.
