Fischer, Anthony (Anton)

Anthony (Anton) Fischer, civil engineer and surveyor, was described as a Hungarian exile. He was active in Republican politics in Chicago from at least 1858 until his death, serving for a time as secretary of the Seventh Ward Republican Club. Fischer represented Cook County at the 1858 Illinois Republican Convention and the 1860 Illinois Republican Convention. He was unsuccessful in a bid to become city surveyor in 1860. Fischer left a wife and children at his death.
