Greer, Abner

Greer lived in Lawrence County, Illinois, as early as 1832. During the Black Hawk War, Greer served as a captain, commanding a battalion of Illinois militia. He won election to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1832 and later won a term in the Senate in 1838. Greer served as Lawrence County Treasurer from 1836 to 1839 and as school commissioner from 1836 to 1842.
