Greenwood, John

Greenwood moved with his father to Sangamon County, Illinois, in 1824. In November 1831, he married Elizabeth (Eliza) Miller, with whom he had three children. In the 1830s, John purchased eighty acres of public land west of Chatham, Illinois. Eliza Greenwood died in February 1841, and in March 1843, John married Emily Miller, Eliza's sister. In 1850, he was farming in Sangamon County and owned real estate valued at $1,100.
