Hays, Lewis M.

Lewis M. Hays was a farmer and bank cashier. In July 1843, he married Malinda Taylor, with whom he eventually had at least six children. In 1850, he was a farmer in Wayne Township in Owen County, Indiana and owned real estate worth $11,000. In late-1857, he worked as a cashier at the Gosport Bank, but, by 1860, he was again farming in Wayne and had a personal estate valued at $250.
