Hall moved westward from Virginia with his parents and siblings, and in 1828, they arrived in Sangamon County, Illinois. In 1831, Hall married Susannah H. Wyckoff, and they settled on a farm near Loami. Hall was farming in 1850 and owned $2,700 worth of real estate.
