Hawley, Isaac A.

Hawley moved to Sangamon County, Illinois, with his family in 1821 and eventually settled in Springfield. He married Ann Eliza McCauley in 1851, with whom he had one daughter. He was one of the original three members of the Second Presbyterian Church. Hawley initially served as a clerk and worked as a dry goods merchant at Grant & Hawley from 1837 to 1857. A Republican, he won election as treasurer of Sangamon County in 1864.
