Michael Hall was a farmer in Coles County, Illinois. Hall married Permilla (Milly; Emily) Glasscock in 1821. He eventually moved his family to Illinois, settling in Coles County. From 1835 to 1837, Hall purchased 120 acres of public land near Charleston. In 1850, Hall and his wife Emily had three children, and he owned real property valued at $1,000. By 1870, the couple lived in Hutton Township and had amassed real estate valued at $10,000 and a personal estate of $2,200.
