Lincoln, Jesse

Born: 1783-07-17 Rockingham County, Virginia

Died: 1857-XX-XX White County, Tennessee

Jesse Lincoln was the son of John Lincoln, brother of Abraham Lincoln, uncle of Thomas Lincoln, and grand-uncle of Abraham Lincoln. Jesse Lincoln relocated from Virginia to Tennessee as early as 1816 when he purchased six acres of land on the south side of Greeneville and adjoining said town. He then moved to Eagle Furnace, Roane County, Tennessee, where he owned an iron furnace, a general merchandise store, and a plantation. Jesse Lincoln married Nancy Brown in 1821 at Jonesboro, Tennessee, and they had three children, Hugh Brown, John Mordecai, and James Hamilton. Although at one time a wealthy businessman, he found misfortune and lost his property. Sometime after 1850, the Lincolns moved to Clarktown.
