Maxwell, Absalom

Maxwell moved to Illinois sometime before 1824, when he married Polly Ann Camerin in Sangamon County. During the Black Hawk War, he served in a battalion of mounted rangers from Illinois. Afterward, Maxwell settled his family in Fulton County, where he served as township supervisor in 1855-56 and 1860. In 1850, Maxwell was a farmer in Fulton County, and owned $4,000 worth of real estate.
