McCown, John

Alternate name: McGown
McCown was an early settler in White County, Illinois. From 1828 to 1832, he was a justice of the peace. During the Black Hawk War, he was a captain in Hosea Pierce's regiment. McCown represented White County in the House of Representatives for two terms, 1832 to 1834, and 1836 to 1838.
