McGill, John D.

John D. McGill was a Virginia attorney, farmer, and landowner. In September 1827, he married Matilda Ann Elizabeth Temple Woodard (Woodward). The couple settled in Middlesex County. In 1830, McGill was living in Middlesex County and owned four slaves. In 1840, he owned eighteen slaves. McGill practiced law in Middlesex County and King and Queen County, Virginia. He was a partner in McGill and Woodward (Woodard) until its dissolution in 1846. In 1850, he was living with his family and farming in Preston County, Virginia.
