Samuel Rogers was a farmer, landowner, and early settler of Sangamon and Menard counties, Illinois. In 1826, he began purchasing public land in what would become Menard County, east and northeast of Petersburg, eventually accumulating over 900 acres. In October 1835, he married Polly Officer.
