Rowan, William W. (Roman)

Rowan was a physician who opened a practice in Belleville, Illinois. In 1838, St. Clair County voters elected him as a Democrat to the Illinois House of Representatives. He failed in his bid for re-election in 1840. In 1847, he represented St. Clair County as a Democrat at the Illinois Constitutional Convention. He was elected as county clerk in 1857, but passed away while serving out his four-year term.
