Rumsey, David

David Rumsey was an attorney, local government official, and U.S. representative. He attended school in Auburn, New York, and Hobart College in Geneva. He studied law, earned admittance to the New York bar in 1831, and started a practice in Bath. He served as surrogate of Steuben County, from 1840 to 1844 and held many other local offices. Rumsey won election, as a Whig, to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1847 to 1851.
