Silvester, Peter H.

Died: 1882-11-29 Greene County, New York

Silvester attended Kinderhook Academy and graduated from Union College in 1827. He studied law, earned admittance to the bar, and started a law practice in Coxsackie in 1830. In 1846, Silvester won election, as a Whig, to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1847-1851. At the end of his second term, he retired from public affairs and lived on one of his farms in Greene County until his death in 1882.
