Smith, Stephen (sheriff)

Smith was an early settler to Bureau County, Illinois. He held numerous county offices. In November 1838, Bureau County voters elected him county surveyor. In August 1839, he was re-elected as surveyor. In September 1842, Bureau county voters elected Smith as sheriff. He also won re-election in 1844, 1846, and 1847.
