Stoddert, Richard

Flourished: Coles County, Illinois

In 1838, Stoddert joined his brother Thomas and settled in Coles County, Illinois. Together, they ran a tanning business in addition to farming and raising livestock. Stoddert served as treasurer and later sheriff of Coles County. In 1844, he married Catharine Rizor, with whom he had five children.
