Summers, Peter

Summers moved with his parents to Sangamon County, Illinois, when he was 17. In 1828, he married Polly B. Pantier, with whom he had nine children. They moved to Whitewater, Iowa, in 1839, where Summers owned a 220-acre farm. He went to California in 1852 to pursue the Gold Rush and returned in 1855. In 1860, he owned $3,300 in real estate and $1,215 in personal property. He was a Republican and a Methodist.
