William W. Todd was the son of David Todd and first cousin of Mary Lincoln. He graduated from the University of Missouri. He studied medicine and became a physician. He moved from Missouri to Louisiana where, in 1850, he was practicing medicine in Union Parish. In 1860, he was living and practicing medicine in Columbia, Missouri. He later moved to Texas, settling in Huntsville, where he lived the rest of his life.
