Zimmerman, Jacob

Before following his father, who was a Revolutionary War soldier, to Illinois after 1820, Zimmerman married his Catharine Rhoads in 1821. They had nine children. Zimmerman was one of the oldest settlers in Union County, where he was a farmer before Union County voters elected him as a Democrat to the House of Representatives in 1838. He served in the House until 1840. In 1850, he was a farmer living in Jackson County and owned $1,410 in real estate.
