Sangamo Town, Illinois
City: Sangamo Town
Founded in the early 1820s, Sangamo Town (sometimes Sangamon Town) was located on the banks of the Sangamon River approximately three miles southeast of Salisbury. The village was little more than a mill by the early 1830s and by the early 1850s it had ceased to exist altogether.
