Spring Lake was an agricultural village located along the Illinois River near the boundary separating Mason County from Tazewell County, less than ten miles southwest of Pekin, Illinois. It was situated within the Spring Lake township. Corn and wheat were major crops produced within the community. The village also had a sawmill. The U.S. Post Office Department established a post office in Spring Lake in February 1856, but discontinued it in July 1864. The village was eventually abandoned as towns in the surrounding area grew more prosperous.
