Resolution regarding Publishing the State Laws in Newspapers, [26 December 1835]1
Resolved, that the committee on public accounts and expenditures, be instructed to enquire into the expediency of authorizeing the publishing of the State laws, of a general nature, in the public Newspapers, and, that they report by bill or otherwise.

1Abraham Lincoln wrote and introduced this resolution in the House of Representatives on December 26, 1835, and the House adopted it. On December 31, the Committee on Public Accounts and Expenditures, of which Lincoln was a member, issued a report recommending against legislation on the subject.
