Sec.[Section] 1^st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General assembly, That the present sheriff of the County of S^t Clair be and he is hereby autherised to collect so much of the Tax of the said county for the year 1829, as remains unpaid in such manner as the former sheriff might have collected the same. But such of the inhabitents as have paid their taxes for said year to the county commissioners or sheriff are hereby discharged from any liability for their Taxes, for the aforesaid year.

Sec. 2^sd Be it further enacted that the said Sheriff shall be liable and accountable for any moneys Collected under this Law, in the same manner as for other taxes collected by him, and shall pay the same over in like manner as other taxes, are by laws. this act to take effect from and after its passage
