AN ACT to change a part of the State Road leading from Equality to Mount Vernon.

Road vacated.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That so much of the State road leading from Equality to Mount Vernon, as lies between the house of Cornelius Elliott and the line between

Abraham T. M’Cool and Offitt’s crossing said road, be, and the same is hereby discontinued; and that from and after the first day of April next, the said Mount Vernon road shall run on the Frankfort road to the line between said M’Cool and Offitt’s, thence north to the Mount Vernon road.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after the first day of April next.

1On January 28, 1835, Stephen R. Rowan of the House of Representatives presented the petition of sundry citizens of Gallatin County requesting a change in part of the State road leading from Equality to Mount Vernon. The House referred the petition to a select committee. Rowan from the aforementioned select committee introduced HB 181 in the House on January 29. The House referred it to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill on January 31 without amendment. The House passed the bill on February 5. On February 7, the Senate referred the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill on February 11 without amendment, and the Senate tabled the bill. On February 13, the Senate took up the bill and passed it. On February 13, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
