AN ACT to amend an act entitled “an act regulating the times of holding the Supreme and Circuit Courts, and fixing the salary of the Circuit Judges,” approved February 13, 1835.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the terms of holding the circuit courts in the county of White, shall commence on the third Mondays in March and September, and continue to be held
from day to day, Sundays excepted, until the business shall be disposed of, unless
it shall be necessary to close the term, to enable the judge to attend in the next
county to hold court; any thing in the act to which this is an amendment, to the contrary notwithstanding.2
Process.
Sec. 2. All process, suits and recognizances, which have been, or may be issued, or entered into and made returnable or continued
to said courts, as at present arranged, or to any special term thereof, shall be taken
and considered to be returnable to the terms fixed by this act, and shall be as valid
as if made returnable to the terms fixed by this act.
Sec. 3. This act to be in force from and after its passage.

1Edwin B. Webb introduced HB 14 in the House of Representatives on December 14, 1835, and the House passed the bill on December 15. The Senate referred the bill to a select committee on December 16. On December 18, the committee
reported back the bill with an amendment, with which the Senate concurred. On December
21, the Senate referred the amended bill to a select committee. On December 24, the
select committee referred the bill back without amendment and the full Senate amended
the bill by adding a section. The Senate approved the amendment and passed the bill
on December 24. On December 30, the House voted not to concur with the amendments
of the Senate. On January 9, 1836, the Senate receded from their amendments to the

2The 1835 law limited the holding of court in White County Circuit Court to two days, on Mondays after the third Mondays in March and September.
