AN ACT concerning the Public Square in the town of Jacksonville.
1County commissioners to enclose public square
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners’ court of Morgan county, is hereby authorised to cause, or permit the public square, in the town of Jacksonville, to be enclosed, for the protection and preservation of the public buildings erected
there, or by running a fence across the state road passing through said square; Provided, That one hundred feet shall be left open, between the lots on the square and the
fence, as a public highway; and the state roads passing through the said square, are
hereby changed, so as to pass upon the space required to be left open aforesaid.

1John Henry introduced HB 32 in the House of Representatives on December 16, 1835. The House passed the bill without amendment on December 23.
The Senate passed the bill without amendment on January 11, 1836. On January 14, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
