Sec[Section]. 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly: That the times of holding the Terms of the circuit court in and for the County of Pike, shall hereafter be on the fourth Monday’s of March, and on the fourth Monday’s of August, Any thing in former Laws to the contrary notwithstanding2

1On December 21, 1835, William Ross of the House of Representatives introduced the petition of sundry citizens of Pike County requesting a change in the time of holding the circuit court of said county. The House referred the petition to the Committee on Petitions.
John T. Stuart from the Committee on Petitions introduced HB 56 in the House on December 23. The
House passed it on December 31. On January 14, 1836, the Senate referred the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the
bill on January 15 with an amendment, in which the Senate concurred. The Senate did
not read the bill a third time.

2An 1831 act had the Pike County Circuit Court holding court on the fourth Mondays in March and the third Mondays in August. Another
act passed in the same session limited the holding of court to the last Monday in
March.
