Sec.[Section] 1st Be it Enacted by the people of the State of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly that Hiram Wentworth his heirs and assigns be and they are hereby authorized to Build a toll Bridge across Green River in the County of Henry at or near the Town of Henryville, and the said Wentworth his heirs and assigns are hereby authorized to place a toll gate at either end of said Bridge, where he or they may ask and demand of all persons passing the rate of toll which may from time to time be fixed by the county commissioners court of said county or of that, to which it may be attached for county purposes.
Sec. 2. the said Wentworth his heirs and assigns shall commence the building of said bridge . . . and [?] it so far completed with . . . from and after the passage of [?] to admit of the safe passage of persons[,] waggons[,] [?] Cattle &c[etc] over it.
Sec. 3. the said Wentworth his heirs and assigns shall at all times, after the completion thereof Keep said Bridge in good repair, and allow a speedy passage to all persons and their property over it upon the receipt of the toll’s in such case’s allowed as herein provided, and if at any time said bridge shall be [Left?] out of repair so that the same be impassable for the space of twelve months at any time, the said bridge shall be forfeited to and belong to the county of Henry, Provided however that the distruction of said Bridge by fire, High water[,] or other casualty. Shall not work a forfeiture of the privileges hereby granted; but the said Wentworth his heirs and assigns shall proceede immediately to repair the same.

Sec. 4. No person shall within two [years hereafter] build a toll bridge or establish a ferry across said river within the distance of one mile above or below said bridge, Provided, Said Wentworth his heirs and assigns shall erect and keep up said bridge for that space of time as by this act required.
Sec. 5. Whenever the county commissioners court of said county of Henry or the one to which it may be attached for county purposes, Shall deem expedient to purchase said bridge, they shall have a right to do so, by paying to the said Hiram Wentworth his heirs or assigns the original cost of said Bridge, and for the purpose of enabling the county commissioners court to make such purchase, It Shall be the duty of the said Hiram Wentworth his heirs or assigns, to file with the clerk of said county commissioners court such vouchers as shall be [deemed] Sufficient by the commissioners court to [ascertain?] [?] of said bridge.
Sec. 6. If the said Hiram Wentworth, his heirs or assigns shall at any time obstruct the ford across said river at or near said bridge, in any manner so as to prevent persons from crossing, he or they so offending shall forfeit and pay the sum of one hundred dollars for every such offence, to be recovered by action of debt, in any court having competant Jurisdiction thereof.
