Whereas that Ware Long of the County of Fulton laid out the town of Utica on a tract of land on “Capperas Creek” in said County, and Whereas in the plat on record in the recorders office in said County of Fulton there is a mistake in the description of the tract of Land upon which the said town is situated, Therefore
Sec[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois representd in the General Assembly, That the said Ware Long be and he is hereby authorised to correct the mistake in said plat, and the recorder of said County of Fulton is hereby required to permit said corrections to be made on the plat now on record in his office, so that ^the^ same may conform to the Land on which said Town is actually located.
Sec 2. All deeds heretofore made and executed for the conveyance of ^lots^ in said town of Utica shall be to all intents and purposes as valid, and effectual as if the said tract of Land had been correctly described on the said plat and in the said deeds
Sec 3. That the said town of Utica shall here after be known and designated by the name of Coppersvill. This act to be inforce from and after its passage.2

1Samuel Hackelton introduced HB 89 in the House of Representatives on December 30, 1835. The House passed the bill on January 1, 1836. The Senate concurred on January 15. Neither the House nor the Senate enrolled the bill, and it did not become law.
