AN ACT for the relief of the infant heir of James Woodside, deceased.
1Guardian appointed.
To make sale of land.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the guardian of the infant heir at law of James Woodside late of Pery county deceased, so soon as one may be appointed by the court of probate of said county, be and he is hereby authorised to sell at public or private sale, after giving reasonable notice of the time and
place thereof, the west half of the north east quarter of section seven, in township
six north, of range two west of the third principal meridian,2 of which the said James Woodside deceased, died seized and possessed, on such terms as to the said guardian may seem
best for the interest of said heir, reserving however from said sale, one quarter
of an acre of said land on which there is a horse mill erected with the improvement
thereon.
To vest proceeds.
To make return.
Sec. 2. The said guardian shall vest the proceeds of said land in other government lands,
suitable for cultiva-

tion, to be entered in the name of the heir at law of said James Woodside deceased, at any land office in this State, and make return of his proceedings herein, under oath to the court of probate in a reasonable time after said sale.

1On January 30, 1837, Richard G. Murphy in the House of Representatives presented a petition from citizens of Perry County, requesting relief for the heirs of James Woodside. The House referred this petition to a select committee. In response to this petition,
Murphy of the select committee introduced HB 171 in the House on February 3. On February 8, the House passed the bill. The Senate passed the bill on February 23. On February 28, the Council of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.
