AN ACT for the relief of Mary Evans.
1Mary Evans to convey lands.
Description of lands.
Sec[Section]. 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Mary Evans, of the county of Washington, in the State of Virginia, be, and she is hereby authorized and empowered to sell and convey, on the best terms
she may be able to do, the following tract of land, situated in the county of Fayette, Illinois, viz: The southeast quarter, southeast (quarter) section number seven, township number
six north, range one west: containing forty acres.2

This bill having been laid before the Council of Revision, and ten days not having intervened before the adjournment of the General Assembly, and the said bill not having been returned, with the objections of the Council, on the first day of the present session of the General Assembly, the same has become a law.

A. P. FIELD, Secretary of State.1On July 14, 1837, William L. D. Ewing in the House of Representatives presented the petition of Mary Evans, requesting permission to sell certain land. The House referred the petition to
a select committee. In response to this petition, William J. Hankins of the aforesaid select committee introduced HB 72 in the House on July 17. The House passed the bill on July 18. The Senate concurred on July 20. The Senate and House having laid the bill before the Council of Revision, and ten days not having intervened before the adjournment of the special session
of the Tenth General Assembly, and the Council not having returned the bill with objections
on December 3, 1838, the first day of the first session of the Eleventh General Assembly,
the act became law.
