Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That so much of the road leading from Vandalia to Hillsboro’ as lies between the East Bank of the Indian Camp Branch in Montgomery County, and the top of the hill South West of Richard Bradley’s be and the same is hereby so changed as to Run from the said East Bank of the Indian
Camp Branch, across the new bridge on the East fork of Shoal creek to intersect the Old road on the top of the hill, South West of the said Richard Bradley’s, and the same shall be and is hereby established as a part of the said State road,
and shall be kept open and in repair as other State roads are.

1Larkin Craig introduced SB 45 in the Senate on July 15, 1837. The Senate referred the bill to a select committee. The select
committee reported back the bill on July 20 with an amendment, in which the Senate
concurred. The Senate passed the bill as amended. On July 21, the House of Representatives amended the bill by adding a section providing for the state road from Jonesboro
to Willard’s Ferry. The House passed the bill as amended, amending the title to reflect
the additional section. The House informed the Senate of its amendment, but the Senate
took no action.
