AN ACT to authorize the sale of school lands in the county of Edwards.
1School com’r[commissioner] may sell lands
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the school commissioner of the county of Edwards is hereby authorized to sell the school lands granted for the use of the inhabitants
of any fractional township in fractional range eleven, east of the third principal
meridian, in said county of Edwards, on petitition of three-fourths of the legal voters of the township as in other cases, although
such fractional township may not contain the number of white inhabitants required
by the several laws relative to the sale of school lands.

1On February 8, 1839, Henry J. Mills introduced SB 196 in the Senate. On February 12, the Senate passed the bill. On February 23, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 27, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
