AN ACT authorizing a certain Loan for canal purposes.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the Fund Commissioners of the State of Illinois are hereby authorized to loan the Illinois and Michigan canal fund the sum of three hundred thousand dollars, authorized to be borrowed by the act, entitled, “An act to provide for the sale of certain canal lands, and for other purposes,” approved on the twenty-flrst day of July, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seven; said loan to be refunded on or before the first day of June next, with interest, at the rate of six per cent. per annum, for the date of the loan to the time of payment.

1William Thomas introduced Misc SB 2 to the Senate on January 19, 1839. On the same day, the Senate amended the title to add “for canal” purposes, passed the amended bill, and the House of Representatives concurred. The Council of Revision approved the bill on January 21 and the act became law.
