Sec [Section]1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the guardian of the infant heirs at law of Robert Coleman late of Monroe County deceased, so soon as one may be appointed by the Court of Probate of said County, be and he is hereby authorized to sell at public or private sale, after giving reasonable
notice of the time and place thereof, the lands and Town lots, of which said Robert Coleman died seized and possessed, on such terms and in such quantity, to each purchaiser, as to said guardian may seem best for the [?] of said heirs
Sec. 2. The said guardian [?] also have power and he is hereby [?]to execute conveyances for said land, town lots, and also to execute conveyances for
any lands or town lots, which said Robert Coleman may have agreed to sell in his life time, and where [any?] conveyances may have been executed by him, and which conveyances shall be good and
valid in law.
Sec. 3. The proceeds of the sale of said lands shall be treated as other assets of said
estate, for the education and nurture of said infant heirs, or shall be invested in
other real estate in [?] of the said infant heirs, or loaned [?] interest under the direction of the Court

Sec. 4. The said Guardian shall file an account under his hand with the said Court of
Probate of each sale made by him, stating therein the name of the purchaser, the tract
sold, and the terms upon which said sale was made.
This act to take effect from and after its passage.

1On January 4, 1839, Edward T. Morgan in the House of Representatives presented the petition of John Coleman, on behalf of the infant heirs of Robert Coleman, deceased. The House referred the petition to a select committee. In response to
this petition, Morgan of the aforesaid select committee introduced HB 115 in the House
on January 9. The House passed the bill on January 18. On January 26, the Senate tabled the bill until July 4.
