Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, Represented in the General Assembly, That Henry Madden of the county of De Kalb, and Simon P. Doty and Daniel H. Whitney of the county of Boon, be, and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to view, mark [,] and locate a State Road on the shortest and best route from Ottowa to Coltonville, thence to Belvidere, thence to Roscoe and thence to the State line in the direction of Beloit, having in view the eligibility of the route for a permanent road.
Sec 2 The said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall meet at Coltonsville on the first Monday in April next or as soon therafter as may be, and after being Duly sworn before some Justice of the Peace faithfully to discharge the duties required of them by this act, shall proceed to mark and locate said road as described in the foregoing section; and as soon as is practicable after said Road shall have been located, they shall make or

cause to be made, a map or plat of so much of said Road as lies in each county through which the same may pass, and deliver the same to the Clerks of the Commissioners’ Courts of the respective counties, who shall file the same in their offices.
Sec. 3. Said road when laid out as aforesaid, shall be opened and kept in repair as other State roads are required to be, and shall be deemed a public highway
Sec 4 The Commissioners shall be each be allowed the sum of two dollars per day; and each hand necessarily employed, one dollar per day, for each and and every day actually spent in the location of said road, to be paid out of the county Treasuries of the several counties in proportion to the length of the road in2 each county.
