AN ACT to amend an act regulating the publication and distribution of the laws and journals of the General Assembly.

Recorders & School commissioners entitled to laws
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That recorders and school commissioners of the counties shall be entitled to one copy of the laws of this State, in all future distributions of the same.2

1On January 21, 1840, George Churchill introduced SB 17 in the Senate. On January 23, the Senate passed the bill. On January 25, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On Janaury 29, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.

2In 1829, the General Assembly enacted legislation governing the publication and distribution of its laws and journals. Section four listed those to whom copies of laws and journals would be distributed.
