It shall be the duty of the President & trustees of the town of Springfield immediately after the passage of this Act, to cause the same to be published two weeks in succession, in two of the public Journals printed in said town, and thereafter give Notice for a public Meeting of the legal voters of said town, who shall have been resident Citizens thereof at least six Months preceeding said Meeting, to be held at the Court House on the first Monday in April next, for the purpose ^of^ then and there voting for the adoption or rejection of this Act The Majority of the legal voters then present shall determine the adoption or rejection of the same Provided, at any subsequent meeting, like Notice being given as aforesaid, the same may be adopted. and take effect immediately there[after?]
