AN ACT to change the name of the town of “Victoria” in the county of White, to that of Phillipstown.

Name of town changed from Victoria to Philipstown
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the name of the town of “Victoria,” in the county of White and State of Illinois, be, and the same is hereby, changed to that of Philipstown, and by that name it shall hereafter be known and distinguished in law.
Alteration shall not affect title to real estate in
Sec. 2. This act shall, in no wise, affect the title to the real estate lying and being within the plat of said town. This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

1On January 13, 1840, Senator William H. Davidson introduced SB 88 in the Senate. On January 18, the Senate passed the bill. On January 25, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On January 29, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
