Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the change in the State road leading from Charleston to Springfield, made by Amos Waggoner in Shelby County is hereby certified and confirmed, and the road as opened by said Waggoner is hereby ordered the State road and shall be kept in repair as though no change had been made. And upon condition that said Waggoner shall put the road as opened by him in good repair he shall be released from the penalty incured by changing said road
This act to be in force from and after its passage

1Peter Warren introduced SB 119 in the Senate on January 18, 1840. The Senate passed the bill on January 23. On January 30, the House of Representatives amended the bill by adding an additional section requiring the treasurer of the Board of Commissioners of the Illinois and Michigan Canal to reside in Lockport. The House passed the bill as amended, amending the title by adding the words “and to Required the Treasurer of the Canal Board to reside at Lockport.” The House informed the Senate of the bill’s passage and amendment, but the latter took no action on the House amendments and amended title.
